Two Atop The Player's Championship Leaderboard

Add Comment

HolmesHolmesNot a lot of wind and damp conditions made the TPC Sawgrass course easier than usual, resulting in a lot of scores in the first round of The Players Championship.  Two sit atop the leaderboard, and their names aren't Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson.  The twos that lead are J.B. Holmes and Robert Allenby, who both shot -6 under, 66's, to storm to the front.  Woods and Mickelson, meanwhile, sit in the middle of the pack after shooting -2 under, 70's.

Both players are in striking distance after Thursday's round, but they'll have to fight tooth and claw, for the conditions on the course will only get harder as the weather seems to be getting better, and if the wind picks up it will be very hard to put up those numbers again.

Tebow Leads NFL

Tebow: Denver Post PictureTebow: Denver Post PictureTim Tebow-mania is off in full-force.  There may be no records of it, but it would interesting to know if any other third-string quarterback, ever, led the NFL in a month for jersey sales, for that is exactly what Tim Tebow did in the month of April.  It too should be said, that he wasn't even the first pick in the first round for the Denver Broncos.

It also appears that Tebow will turn a lot of Florida residents into Broncos fans because The Denver Post reports that "thirty percent of the orders for Tebow's jerseys game from Florida, and also stated that the Broncos were the top team in April for NFL merchandise, after ranking 10th at the end of March, and not having a single player's jersey in the top 25."
