Tebow: Denver Post PictureTebow: Denver Post PictureToday was the first day of Rookie Mini-Camp for the Denver Broncos, and all eyes were on first-round draft pick, Tim Tebow.  He, like all quarterbacks in the system, was wearing an orange jersey, which had him sticking out even more in Dove Valley this afternoon.  According to The Denver Post, there were 32 rookies at the camp, and 47 members of the media, so obviously Tebow is bring some intrigue to Denver.

"I think he's done a good job with it," said Zane Beadles to The Denver Post, the Broncos' second-round draft pick who practiced at both left and right tackle Friday. "He's come in here and you can definitely tell he's a winner and loves football. He's talking to guys and already getting the team to pull together."

  • Tiger Misses Cut

    Add Comment

Tiger WoodsTiger WoodsTiger Woods' second tournament back from his break didn't go exactly the way he planned, as he shot a 7 over par, 79, one the second day, which made him miss the cut at the Quail Hollow Championship.  This being just the sixth time in his entire 14-year career that Tiger has missed the cut, and odd because of his great showing at the Masters, where he tied for fourth place.

Those things happen, however, when your drives rarely find the fairway, and when the putter isn't working.  He only hit 6 fairways out of the 36 holes he played, and many times three-putted, and once four-putted, which is very un-Tiger.

WilliamsWilliamsDoes anyone on the Denver Nuggets want to play defense?  If so, they may have a slim chance in this series, if not, the Utah Jazz finish off the series quickly.  There wasn't much defense at all played in tonight's Game 4 playoff game, and the Jazz beat the Nuggets 117-106, giving the Jazz a 3-1 series lead on the Nuggets.  Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams both went off in getting double-double's for the Jazz, with Boozer scoring 31 points and 13 rebounds, and Williams adding 24 points, and dishing out 13 assists.

  • Nuggets down 2-1 Heading into Game 4

    Add Comment

AnthonyAnthonyThe hopes and dreams of the Denver Nuggets season rests in tonight's Game 4 Western Conference pivotal playoff matchup with the Utah Jazz, for a loss puts them down 3-1, and that would most likely be too big a hole to come back from.  The Nuggets must try to come back from their embarassing Game 3 loss to the Jazz 105-93.  Utah's defense flustered Carmelo Anthony all night, holding him to just 25 points, and the Nuggets, again, didn't have an answer for Jazz point guard, Deron Williams, who had a double-double, 24 points and 10 assists.

  • Completion of the Broncos 2010 Draft

    Add Comment

NFL DraftNFL DraftBarring yet another trade, and with only 20 picks left in the 2010 NFL Draft, it may be safe to say that the Denver Broncos have made their last selection with Indiana, Defensive End, Jammie Kirlew.  He's a bit undersized by had a great career at Indiana, and was an all-conference player the last two seasons.  He makes up for his lack of size, however, with a good work ethic and a motor that doesn't stop.

  • Trade Gives Broncos Two More Picks in 7th

    Add Comment

NFL DraftNFL DraftIn my last blog I said the Denver Broncos were finished with the draft, barring a trade, and they went out and made a trade.  They traded their 5th Round pick in 2011 for this year's #225 and #232 of the seventh round.  With the #225 pick of the seventh round, the Denver Broncos selected California, Cornerback, Syd' Quan Thompson.  Sports Illustrated had him ranked as a fifth round pick, so getting him in the seventh is a great pick for the Broncos.  Thompson will add depth to the secondary with other draft pick Perrish Cox, and both will most likely play a significant role in special teams as they learn the system.

The Broncos are now almost finished with this year's draft, with only pick #232 left in the seventh round.

  • Sixth Round Denver Broncos Selection

    Add Comment

NFL DraftNFL DraftThe Denver Broncos went back to offense with the sixth round selection in the 2010 NFL Draft.  Denver selected Notre Dame, Offensive Guard/Center, Eric Olsen, with the #183 pick.  Scouts says he's a hardworking, tenacious blocker, and fits well with Coach Josh McDaniels mold of an offensive linemane.  He's also comes from Notre Dame, where he was coached by Charlie Weis, who coached with Denver Head Coach Josh McDaniels with the New England Patroits.  The NFL-style offense at Notre Dame will carry over nicely to Denver, and the lineman should make a nice transition to the league.

  • Broncos Fifth Round Selection

    Add Comment

NFL DraftNFL DraftIn Round 5 of the 2010 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos selected Oklahoma State, Cornerback, Perrish Cox, which is could be a steal of the draft.  He plays corner and also is a return specialist, had a great career at Oklahoma State, and Sports Illustrated had him as a second round projection.  He'll fit really well in the Broncos secondary, and also looks to find a role in special teams, as well.

Denver's next pick is the first on the defensive side of the ball, and their next pick is in the sixth round at pick 183.

  • Second Round 3 Pick for Broncos

    Add Comment

NFL DraftNFL DraftAnother offensive weapons goes to the Denver Broncos, as they select Minnesota, Wide Receiver, Eric Decker, with the #87 pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.  The offensive foundation the Broncos have accumulated in this year's draft could go down as one of the best if the players live up to their hype.  Decker joins the group of wideout Demaryius Thomas, quarterback Tim Tebow, and offensive lineman Zane Beadles and J.D. Walton.

That closes up day two of the draft, with rounds 4 through 7 starting tomorrow morning.  The Broncos still have pick #137 (5th round), and the  #183 (6th round) left.  Day two is complete, one more left.

  • First Pick of Round 3 Bronco Selection

    Add Comment

NFL DraftNFL DraftWith the #80 pick of the 2010 NFL Draft the Denver Broncos took Baylor, Center, J.D. Walton, yet another young offensive player selected by the team.  Scouts say Walton is explosive and has good quickness, and should really help out the interior of the Denver Broncos offensive line.  This is the fourth pick in a row that has come on the offensive side of the ball, and really shows the direction Coach Josh McDaniels plans to go with the team.  The Broncos have one more pick tonight, at #87, and it will be very interesting to see what they decide to do with that pick.

  • Denver Broncos Round 2 Selection

    Add Comment

NFL DraftNFL DraftIn Round 2 of the 2010 NFL Draft the Denver Broncos have selected Utah, Offensive Guard, Zane Beadles, with the #45 pick.  He played left tackle at Utah last year, but most likely will move inside and play guard for the Broncos.  This pick is the third offensive player selected, out of three thus far, for the Broncos, and really shows their effort to rebuild their offense with Head Coach Josh McDaniels type of guys.

The Broncos have no more second round selections, but have the #80 and #87 in the third round later tonight, unless, of course, they decide to make yet another trade to move up.  Stay tuned.

NFL DraftNFL DraftThe smoke has cleared and the dust has settled on the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, and the Denver Broncos may take the, "Movers and Shakers" award.  They began the draft by trading down twice, from #11 to #13, and then to #24, gaining four draft picks in the process.  Now at #24, then traded up two spots to get the #22 pick from New England, and in doing so sent a fourth-round draft pick and their spot at #24.  With the #22 pick of the draft the Denver Broncos selected Georgia Tech wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, a big receiver like the player they just traded, Brandon Marshall.

  • Jazz Take Game 2

WilliamsWilliamsThe Utah Jazz beat the Denver Nuggets 114-111 in a hard-fought, physical game, that showed the intensity of a NBA playoff game.  The Jazz were led by point guard Deron Williams who scored 33 points, dished out 14 assists and had his way the entire night in their offensive end.  Defense needed to be the focal point for the Nuggets in Game 2, for it was absent in Game 1, but again, it fell by the wayside.

JimenezJimenezThe Colorado Rockies record book was inked with the name Ubaldo Jimenez on Saturday night after he became the first pitcher in team history to throw a no-hitter.  It wasn't easy for the Rockies' ace, but he worked through many innings, and as a grounder went to Clint Barmes at second and made it way into Todd Helton's glove for his 27th out, history was made.

A great accomplishment for a great teammate as one can see my his post-game interview, given to The Denver Post, "It's an unbelievable feeling, an honor to have teammates hugging you and admiring what we did," Jimenez said. "Every single guy was pulling for me. You could see it in their faces."

  • Marshall Trade Causes Yet Another Trade

    Add Comment

Brandon MarshallBrandon MarshallThe trade of Brandon Marshall to the Miami Dolphins, has caused another move for a wide reciever.  The Dolphins now have a main passing catching threat in Marshall, so they traded Ted Ginn Jr. to the San Francisco 49er's for a fifth-round draft pick.  This has got to be a little disheartening for the Dolphins, for it was a mere three years ago that the Dolphins picked Ginn out of Ohio State with the ninth pick of the 2007 draft.  Obviously they would have wished he would have been more productive, but it was time to part ways.  The interesting part of this trade will be how Ginn complements wide reciever Michael Crabtree of the 49er's.

This is the first move due to the trade of Marshall, with many more, most likely, to come.

Phil MickelsonPhil MickelsonIt was Phil Mickelson's day today at the Masters.  He hit miraculous shots, got himself out of some tough spots, and played like a true champion.  He shot a final round -5, 67, which gave him a -16 total, for the win, and the green jacket.

This is Mickelson's third victory at Augusta National, and this one is extra special for the amount of hardship him and his family have had to endure.  Mickelson's mother and wife are both going through breast cancer treatment, and he's had to juggle a lot in both his personal and professional life.  The embrace with his wife, after making his birdie putt on 18, will go down as one of the most captivating moments in Masters' history.
