Sports Illustrated columnist, Peter King, writes a column every Monday entitled "Monday Morning Quarterback," and Broncos quarterback, Tim Tebow made the #5 item in his "10 Thing I Think I Think" as he wrote,

"5. I think it's almost as absurd to think ill of Tim Tebow for passing on a couple of huge endorsements, which he has done since the draft. Tebow knows his job right now is to prepare to be a football player, and it isn't that taking a day or two out of his prep work or vacation will do significant damage to his career. But if teammates see his mug all over TV this summer and fall pushing two or three products as a big NFL star before he's ever arrived ... not a good idea. It's smart to lay low for now."

  • No Contract, No Worries For Dumervil

Broncos linebacker, Elvis Dumervil, is playing with fire.  Unlike many that would not come within miles of a facility if they didn't have a contract, Dumervil strapped up his helmet, put on the jersey and shorts and participated in day one of the Organized Team Activities.  The move is almost sure sign of a long-term contract, but this is the NFL, and it is a business, and does have its risks.  If Dumervil, while practicing without a contract, were to get hurt, one could only assume that the price tag on his contract would be substantially lower.

Freak injuries are taking its toll on the offensive lineman of the Denver Broncos.  Stand-out offensive tackle, Ryan Clady, tore his patellar tendon playing basketball, and now offensive guard/center, Matt McChesney may be done for good with football after suffering a severe ankle injury on the golf course.  McChensey, the former University of Colorado Buffalo, got his ankle, that was surgically repaired last year, clipped by a golf cart as he was getting out of his own cart.  The injury is said to be career ending.  McChesney, according to The Denver Post said, "It was just a freak accident.  It stinks."

Tiger WoodsTiger WoodsThe roller coaster continues at full-speed for golf great, Tiger Woods.  The latest loss is that of long time coach, Hank Haney, as he resigned earlier today, through a text message.  There had been rumors of this happening for weeks, but it finally came to a head.  "I believe at this time that it is in both of our best interests for me to step aside as Tiger's coach," Haney said in a statement to The Golf Channel. "I will always look back upon our past half dozen years together as my best days in professional golf."  He then went on to say, via text message to GOLF.com, "This was my decision, and he [Woods] won't spin it any other way.  There comes a time and a place for everything to move on. Now was the time for me to step aside.

  • Bust Makes $5.6 Million Per Win

RussellRussellThe business side of professional sports sometimes can be pretty ridiculous, and there is no better example than ex-Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell.  The situation also brings to light the importance and risk that comes with the NFL Draft.  The Oakland Raiders selected Russell with the first pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, which resulted in a six-year contract that would have been worth up to $68 million, with $31.5 million guaranteed.  He, however, was recently cut by the team, and many experts have said that he may be one of the NFL's biggest draft busts.

  • Two Atop The Player's Championship Leaderboard

    Add Comment

HolmesHolmesNot a lot of wind and damp conditions made the TPC Sawgrass course easier than usual, resulting in a lot of scores in the first round of The Players Championship.  Two sit atop the leaderboard, and their names aren't Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson.  The twos that lead are J.B. Holmes and Robert Allenby, who both shot -6 under, 66's, to storm to the front.  Woods and Mickelson, meanwhile, sit in the middle of the pack after shooting -2 under, 70's.

Both players are in striking distance after Thursday's round, but they'll have to fight tooth and claw, for the conditions on the course will only get harder as the weather seems to be getting better, and if the wind picks up it will be very hard to put up those numbers again.

  • Tebow Leads NFL

    Add Comment

Tebow: Denver Post PictureTebow: Denver Post PictureTim Tebow-mania is off in full-force.  There may be no records of it, but it would interesting to know if any other third-string quarterback, ever, led the NFL in a month for jersey sales, for that is exactly what Tim Tebow did in the month of April.  It too should be said, that he wasn't even the first pick in the first round for the Denver Broncos.

It also appears that Tebow will turn a lot of Florida residents into Broncos fans because The Denver Post reports that "thirty percent of the orders for Tebow's jerseys game from Florida, and also stated that the Broncos were the top team in April for NFL merchandise, after ranking 10th at the end of March, and not having a single player's jersey in the top 25."

JimenezJimenezThe Colorado Rockies are currently in third place in the National League West, with 13 wins and 13 loses, one game behind the second place San Francisco Giants, and three games behind the first place San Diego Padres.  Of those 13 wins, however, pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez has won 6.  He currently has six wins, no losses, has a 0.87 ERA, and just recently (Monday) had his 25 1/3 scoreless innings streak snapped.  He did, however, strikeout 13 batters on his way to his sixth victory.

Carlos BoozerCarlos BoozerPack your bags, Nuggets, and enjoy an early start to the offseason, for you deserve it.  The Utah Jazz, without two starters, had way more heart and played as a team to win Game 6, and the series, 112-104.  Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams dominated yet again, but it wasn't that difficult, as defense wasn't played by the Nuggets.  Boozer went for 22 points and 20 rebounds, and Williams added another double-double, with 14 points and 10 assists.
