The #1 golf ranking in the world is up for grabs this weekend at the Players Championship at the TPC Sawgrass, and it comes down to current #1 golfer, Tiger Woods, and #2 ranked golfer, Phil Mickelson.  Here's how it has to work for their to be a change:  If Phil Mickelson wins this weekend's tournament, and Tiger Woods places outside of the top 5, then Phil Mickelson will join an elite group of people that have been the world's #1 golfer.  According to the Official World Golf Ranking there has only been 13 #1 golfers in the 24 year history of ranking golfers.

Tiger Woods, also according to the OWGR, has been the world's #1 golfer for the past 258 weeks, and has held that status for 598 weeks throughout his career.  The pressure will be on each of them this weekend, for the golf world's #1 ranking is on the line.
