Tim Tebow is now 1 for 1 in playoff games after he led his team to a 29-23 victory in overtime on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tebow came into the game riding a big losing streak and flirting with more questions then answers this season. After beginning 6-1, he began to slide and the team struggled on offense losing 3 straight games. Tebow looked like he again took some steps back and the streak led to more questions about Tebow's future with the team and what the team would do in the offseason. I do not think that the team has figured out their plan yet, but do feel Tebow will give them reason to stay the course. John Elway told Tebow he would have to pull the trigger and Tebow did just that. His numbers were not overwhelming, but they were his bet yet on the game's biggest stage.
In all, the often highly debated quarterback went 10-21 with 316 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also added 50 yards of rushing and another touchdown on the ground. More then anything he provided his team intensity and a spark they needed to perform on both sides of the ball. His balls were nothing but tight spirals and seemed to wobble as if they were tipped at the line. Yet as ugly as they may have been, they landed right where they needed to in order for the Broncos to get large chunks of offense. Tebow took chances and threw with better timing and anticipation. He pulled the trigger like Elway wanted him to and hopefully he can now see that he is able to be whatever every analyst wants him to be. For now, however, he will remain himself humble and thankful while unsatisfied. He will play using whatever technique he has to to get the job done and will focus on wins and losses. He showed some people what he may be capable of, but still has an overwhelming number of doubters.
After the game, i could not help to hear Deion Sanders question whether the game was good from Tebow. He made it seem like 300 yards and 2 touchdowns was below average and failed to give any credit to the quarterback. For whatever reason Tebow simply will have doubters no matter what he does. Tebow beating Pittsburgh was huge...noone saw it coming no matter how many players the Steelers were missing or how banged up they were. Tebow beating the golden boy, Tom Brady, would be even more impressive. It may be the only thing that could make all doubters give Tebow credit and say he is the guy for Denver. The two teams faced each other a few weeks ago and Denver was in control for a good portion of the game. Certainly one thing everyone should be able to agree on is that you can not count Tebow out. The upcoming game against the Patriots will be David versus Goliath and some would say good versus evil. If Tebow wins all analyst should bow to him no matter how his numbers look. In the end it does not matter if Tebow throws for 80 percent completion percentage and three touchdowns. All he cares about is winning no matter how he has to do it, and the last time i checked that is all that matters in the NFL.
