Another Loss For Tiger
Tiger WoodsThe roller coaster continues at full-speed for golf great, Tiger Woods. The latest loss is that of long time coach, Hank Haney, as he resigned earlier today, through a text message. There had been rumors of this happening for weeks, but it finally came to a head. "I believe at this time that it is in both of our best interests for me to step aside as Tiger's coach," Haney said in a statement to The Golf Channel. "I will always look back upon our past half dozen years together as my best days in professional golf." He then went on to say, via text message to GOLF.com, "This was my decision, and he [Woods] won't spin it any other way. There comes a time and a place for everything to move on. Now was the time for me to step aside. Simple as that."
Many analysts and Woods' former coach, Butch Harmon, have criticized Haney for the recent struggles, on the course, that Woods has endured, but Haney was quick to respond in a statement to The Golf Channel stating, "In the last two years, Tiger has won 44 percent of his tournaments and finished top three in 61 percent. In the two years before I started working with him, he won 24 percent and finished top three in 43 percent."
This just adds to the mess Tiger Woods is in. His highly publicized family situation is in shambles. His golf game is in disarray as shots were heading in every direction besides the fairway. Then throw in a neck injury that forced him to take himself out of the final round of The Players Championship. All of that would be enough for anyone of his stature, but now he has to try to find a coach. Good luck, Tiger, good luck.
