The Rockies are continuing to move closer to the 500 mark as they improve their record to 41-42 on the year. Their latest win came July 2ndover the Kansas City Royals who continue to struggle. Colorado had 15 hits in all. Three of these came from Mark Ellis, who has been on fire as of late. Tulowitzki’s home run brings his total on the year to 17. Greg Reynolds got credited with the win and has yet to record a loss this season. Pitcher Huston Sreet came in late to close the game and record his 24thsave of the season.

The loss dropped the Royals record to a lousy 33-50 mark. They have done especially bad away from home where they have just ten wins to 26 losses.
The two teams meet again on July 3rd at 3:10 PM ET to close out the series. Colorado will have Jason Hammel pitching. On the year, he is 4-7 with a 4.02 ERA. Kansas City will send 5-8 Luke Hochevar to the mound. Hochevar brings a 4.96 earned run average to the game. A win for the Rockies will move their record to an even 42-42. The series against the struggling Royals could not have come at a better time and getting above 500 before the all-star break would be a great step for the Rockies.
