The Utah Jazz beat the Denver Nuggets 114-111 in a hard-fought, physical game, that showed the intensity of a NBA playoff game. The Jazz were led by point guard Deron Williams who scored 33 points, dished out 14 assists and had his way the entire night in their offensive end. Defense needed to be the focal point for the Nuggets in Game 2, for it was absent in Game 1, but again, it fell by the wayside.
"All day, I read articles where (former Jazz player) Matt Harpring was saying the Jazz need to 'dirty the game up,' to hold, grab and lean on Melo as much as possible," said Rex Chapman, Denver's vice president of player personnel, according to The Denver Post, "I guess the players read those quotes as well. It looked like they took it to heart." The Jazz definitely adjusted their gameplan towards Anthony, who scorched them for 42 points in Game 1, and it did seem like Anthony was getting pestered the entire game. Denver fans are going crazy on article comments on newspaper articles on and Facebook with regard to the refs, but again, this is playoff basketball, and the intensity is tenfold what is usually is in the regular season, that is for sure.
The Nuggets had a three-point attempt at the end of regulation from top of the key from Chauncey Billups, but it fell just short, giving the Jazz the victory, and evening the series 1-1. The series resumes in Utah on Friday at the Energy Solutions Center for Game 3.
