The Denver Nuggets beat the New York Knicks Saturday 119-114 thanks in large part to an old friend of the big apple. Danilo Gallinari had a huge game for the Nuggets and led ten to the win, which came after 2 periods of overtime. The win is the 12th for Denver on the season as they continue to build success while staying under the radar in the NBA.
The Nuggets success from the field was highlighted by Gallanari who scored 37 points in the contest to lead all scorers. Nene Lilario led the team in rebounds with 13 to help get chances for the Nuggets. Andre Miller was very helpful to the squad leading all with 12 assists. After falling behind in the 2nd quarter, the Nuggets came out in the 3rd and outscored the Knicks 26-18 in the third to get back into the contest. The Nuggets win away brings their away record to 6-3 this season.
The Knicks continue to slide and are now just 6-10 on the year while just 3 of their wins have come at Madison Square Garden. Carmelo Anthony led the team with 25 points. Amare Stoudemire led the team in rebounds with 11 as well and continues to be a monster on the boards for New York. Despite it all, they did not have enough and were outscored 14-9 in the second OT period.
The Nuggets must continue to find ways to win and have showed that they can be a team to beat in this league for years to come. It will take much more success , though, to get the team noticed by more of the NBA community.
