The smoke has cleared and the dust has settled on the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, and the Denver Broncos may take the, "Movers and Shakers" award. They began the draft by trading down twice, from #11 to #13, and then to #24, gaining four draft picks in the process. Now at #24, then traded up two spots to get the #22 pick from New England, and in doing so sent a fourth-round draft pick and their spot at #24. With the #22 pick of the draft the Denver Broncos selected Georgia Tech wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, a big receiver like the player they just traded, Brandon Marshall.
The surprise of the first round, however, came when the Denver Broncos traded their #43 (second round), #70 (third round) and #114 (fourth round) picks to the Baltimore Ravens for the #25 pick in the draft. They then selected Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, which by all accounts may be one of the riskest moves in the draft. The Broncos gave up a lot of picks for Tebow, who has his doubters, but his character is exceptional, he's coachable, and has a great upside.
Round 1 of the NFL Draft is in the books, rounds 2 and 3 are tomorrow night, followed by rounds 4 through 7 on Saturday.
