Tim Clark Wins The Players Championship
Tim ClarkSunday is the right time to shine, and Tim Clark shined on his way to winning The Players Championship. He played incredible golf this past weekend, and deserved the win, his first on the PGA Tour. He shot a -6 under, 66 on Saturday, and followed it up with a -5 under, 67 in the final round for the win, and the $1.71 million prize. "I did all I could there," Clark told Golf.com. "That's as good as I could have played." Robert Allenby took second, and Lucas Glover came in third.
The battle for the #1 world rank stays with Tiger Woods, as Phil Mickelson did not win, but Woods left the course on the seventh hole with a neck injury. He said that it has been bothering him for awhile, and that he couldn't play through it anymore. He plans to have an MRI this coming week. Mickelson struggled through his final round, ending up shoot a two over par, 74, which put him in a tie for 17th place.
The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in now in the books, a tournament Clark will never forget, as no one forgets the location of their first victory. Many golfers were really happy for him, as Glover told Golf.com, "You wouldn’t find one guy in the locker room that wouldn’t say he was going to win soon, and he deserves it.” If Clark continues to play the way he did this weekend, many more victories will be in his future, that is for sure.
